This is one of our favorite custom cabinets built to date. These cabinets were built to give the appearance of a furniture grade cabinet, housing a see-through fireplace. In actuality, the fireplace is built as standard, with studded walls and ducted through the ceiling. We built these cabinets with extended frames to simply cover the walls and hide them behind solid cherry. The door above the fireplace was built for a flatscreen plasma television, while allowing the necessary room for the fireplace ductwork. The doors below are for access to the mechanics of the fireplace. This also allows enough room to access the plumbing for the Jacuzzi tub in the adjacent bathroom. The doors on either side of this custom entertainment center are for the actual cabinets where the electronics are stored for the television and stereo systems. Both of these cabinets are vented with solid cherry vents above and below the doors. This helps prevent the electronics from overheating, keeping the cabinets cooler inside. The picture below shows the appearance of this area before we built the cabinetry.
